Our Beef and Lamb
All of our beef and lamb is entirely grass fed, which means that we use no means of supplementary feeding and this ensures that our animals grow slowly on a healthy and natural diet. This enhances the texture and flavour of the meat and also provides a natural, happy life for our livestock. Animal welfare and protecting our beautiful environment is at the heart of how we farm!
Generally we take orders for our meat boxes a month ahead of collection, whilst the animals are still out grazing in the field. Sometimes if we have a busier month then we begin taking orders for the next month ahead as well. We recommend joining our mailing list if you are interested in keeping up to date with availability as we will email and text what we have coming available each month before we advertise it elsewhere.
We know that it is really important for people to connect with where their food comes from and to meet the farmers that produce it! Therefore collection for our meat boxes is from our home on the farm, and you are most welcome to come and see the cattle and sheep if they are grazing nearby, or in the barn during Winter months – we know this is popular with younger members of the family! We look forward to meeting our customers on collection day and hope to provide you with some delicious all grass fed beef and lamb, direct from the farm!

Our Dexter Beef
Our beef is all grass-fed and comes from our Pedigree herd of Dexter cattle.
Our popular Dexter beef is available monthly in our fresh Butterbox family boxes (approx 10kg, these fill at least one upright freezer drawer) or you can buy our beef by the quarter carcass (generally yielding 25kg-30kg) if you prefer to go big or share.
A family beef box is £140 and contains a mixture of cuts, primarily one third steaks, one third mince and stewing, and one third roasting joints; all of the cuts are vac packed and labelled ready for your freezer!
If you purchase your beef by the quarter, then this is priced at £13/kg.
We also now offer a smaller family/couples box for £75. This contains at least one roasting joint, several packs of steaks and also mince and diced stewing. Please do let us know if you have a specific request or preference.
In the summer months we also offer a mixed beef and lamb BBQ box. These have been so popular that we are making them available to order June, July and also August. A BBQ box contains a mixture of beef burgers, minted lamb burgers, chilli beef koftes, lamb koftes, minute steaks, minted lamb chops and lamb chipolatas. A box is £55 or two for £100.
Our beef is raised with an emphasis on animal welfare and care for the environment, spending most of the year grazing on our natural pasture. In the winter the cattle come into the barn and are fed on our home-produced hay and grass silage. We use no artificial means to promote rapid growth, our stock grow slowly on this diet which helps to give the meat its superb flavour. Our cattle are slaughtered locally and the beef is air dried, and hung for a minimum of three weeks to give it its tenderness and flavour.
The Dexter cow is Britains smallest breed of cattle. We started our herd of Butterbox Dexters in 1978 when there were less than 300 breeding females in the country. There are now over 4000! Their popularity has underlined the quality of the excellent flavoured and award-winning beef. Pedigree Dexter beef comes in smaller family sized joints and cuts and is increasingly popular with chefs, professional and amateur, because it cooks so fabulously as a result of its excellent marbling!
